LECTURE PRESENTATION
INTERPRETING DREAMSCAPE
Bridging the chasm between creativity and collaboration among artists and designers served as the central theme for a dynamic conversation hosted November 17 as part of the dreamSCAPE exhibition. Reuniting two of the project’s designer/artist teams, Interpreting dreamSCAPE examined how the cooperative process between creative talents and artwork-as-inspiration formed the basis from which each installation was conceived. Los Angeles Art Association’s Executive Director Peter Mays and LOOK Gallery/dreamSCAPE co-curator Jerri Levi co-moderated the panel consisting of Christopher Gaona, principal, Christopher Gaona, Inc. Interiors and Sue Chang, associate principal, Shimoda Design Group, along with their respective artist-partners Joe Davidson and Claressinka Anderson. Guests from the creative communities discovered how art and objects, along with each piece’s color, texture, functionality, motif, intricacy, simplicity and style played a specific role in telling the story of each dreamSCAPE space.
